Laura Burnell is a board certified music therapist and licensed
professional counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Maryville University. She received
her Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University.
She has a well rounded background of experience providing individual and group music therapy programs in hospital rehab, nursing
homes, psychiatric care, and hospice for the past 20 years. She was clinical director for music therapy students and interns
at Hyland Behavioral Health where she provided music therapy for adults, adolescents and children with emotional, psychological
and chemical dependency issues.
As a licensed counselor, Laura provided individual therapy and corporate
training in areas of stress management, wellness, conflict resolution, crisis intervention and team building. She is a public
speaker and has presented at regional and national seminars on the benefits of music therapy with a variety of the populations
she has worked with.
Laura also had a private practice and provided counseling and music
therapy services for adults and children. She has worked with BJC Home Care Hospice Services for the past three years, providing
music therapy for terminally ill children and adults.
Laura is the mother of five grown children, and has five grandchildren.
She enjoys scuba diving, traveling, dancing and riding her bike on nature trails.
